How did you get started as a photographer ?

When studying Culturology at Russian State University for the Humanities I was inspired by an article – it was about anorexic body representation in campaign of CK 90s. The drama of models’ body made a really strong emotional and aesthetic impact on me.

How would you describe yourself ?

Structuralism vs Spontaneity.

I’ve seen that you are as well a model. Did the modeling as well inspired you to become photographer ?

Yes, a lot. It helps me to communicate with models when I’m at the camera.

What does it take to be a great photographer in your opinion ? And what’s the best way to start as a photographer ?

Good photography is a compromise between strong emotional sublimation, technical perfectionism, boldness, spontaneity and realism. To start as a photographer is to start looking around yourself and be penetrated by a reality.

There are many different kinds of photography. How does it come that you have chosen these natural high fashion style ?

Natural aesthetic is what i got inspiration from when i started to shoot. The drama of “non-commercial” beauty refracted through means of perfect styling was interesting. I wanted to show how natural beauty got its fashionable rhetoric when minimalism was the principle of constructing image.

Did you ever made a crazy experience during one of your shoots ?

I hope I won’t have any.

Who’s your hero in the business ?

Steven Meisel !!!

What are your projects for the future ?

Integration into anti-anorexic project.

How and when did you get started as a photographer ?

I remember that it get started from my childhood. I used to watch the people without hesitation near to me and discover new faces. I always had problems with my Mom: “Alex! Stop it, you’re confusing people, it is not polite!” But in these moments I was doing my first shots in my head and couldn`t stop. I grew up and I still watching people but try to do it not so open. Nothing can be so interesting to me from that time till now. That`s how I get started.

How would you describe your photographs ? What’s your style ?

I love pure and intelligent style, clean forms, contrast of colors. I think it is all about graphic. Black and white, this is my style.

Did something inspire you to become a photographer ?

I believe in beauty and I always in searching it, in people, nature, music, books and art in everything around me. It is inspiring me. I am catcher of a beauty and photography helps me to find it.

Do you have an advice for people, who would like to become a photographer ?

Don`t wait too long to keep money for an expensive professional camera and lighting.  Just take a simple SLR camera, go on the street or studio with a day light and try to make something creative. You don`t need something special, just your wish.

You worked with some many great and well known models. Do you have a muse? If yes, who is this model ?

Before the shooting I and my team, we create an idea and from this moment start searching model for a concept. So for every shooting I am searching new muse.

Did you ever made a strange experience during one of your shoots ?

Yes, I had a lot of strange and funny stories during the shootings. Always something new and unexpected. Recently I made a story with model and two sheeps. Oh, God!  That`s was funny to watch how sheeps discovered a mirror in a studio and tried to say “hello” to their reflection.

What is your dream publication ?

My dream is Numéro or L`Officiel Paris!

What are your future plans ?

In a nearly future I will move to Europe. I am dreaming about discovering new horizonts and of course I hope to find new friends there.

When did you start your work as a photographer ?

Did you always want to become a photographer ?

I have never thought of it. I would never imagine that I’ll become a photographer. Music was the only thing I was working on and I actually planned to play music for living. A camera ocasionally entered my life and all the rest took a back seat.

How would you describe yourself and your works as a photographer ?

Emotional part of photography is what seems most importatnt to me. Despite of the idea, the picture should be ‘alive’

What inspired you to become a photographer ?

Photography is like talking without words, without bounds. Photography lets you show everyone the way you see things.

In your opinion, what does a model need to make it big in the business ?

It’s important for a model to be able to live through emotions that she shows, to be able to live her own life and stay real during the shoot.

Did you ever made a crazy/strange experience during one of your shoots ?

I like crazy things. I like all strangee things. But no crazy things during the shoot!

What are your ambitions ?

I always loved magazine pictures because of their beauty  and forethought and I loved art exhibitions because of their emotionality and unpredictability. In my own pictures I want to combine both things.

What are your future plans ?

To take as much pictures as possible.
